Anthony Quinn Sculptures
Anthony Quinn didn’t just create drawings and paintings; he was a prolific sculptor. His development process in this regard began with sketches and drawings he created while traveling during his film career. He carefully contemplated each form, finding just the right balance between the negative and positive space and visualized them on a grand scale. Quinn later translated the sketches into wooden maquettes. He worked meticulously developing the proportion and dimensions of each, and studied them from every angle to see how light and shadow played on their contoured surfaces. He caressed them with his hands, internalizing their beauty and their energy, envisioning them as larger-than-life sculptures.
